Any slight lack of continuity in something that has genuinely saddened me since a kid. Having no continuity is a good thing in many cases. It's just a feeling I get personally. This is the case with Spongebob, something that doesn't even need any form of episodic continuity to be good, to be honest. But when something wasn’t lining up with the other episodes, I hated it. With the huge lack of continuity with Spongebob, the spin-offs now, I had lost some interest in it.

But I learned about the concept of alternative Spongebob universes. For some reason, this made me so interested. Multiple universes aren't my thing, but this got me. Now I’m back to understanding why people headcanon, write fanfiction and overall just are fans.
